RAMAYANA Lava and Kush gives description of Ayodhya city

Lava and    Kusha begin the story of Ramayana in the court of king Ramachandra . They begin by telling that the story of Ramayana takes place in the lineage of Ikshavku were a Gem like Rama a complete incarnation of Lord Vishnu has taken birth as the son of Raja   Dasharatha.

Kosala  was a large empire formed on the banks of the    river Sarayu   which was filled in prosperity and wealth . The capital of this    Janapada(KINGDOM) was   Ayodhya . Ayodhya was a very famous city whose fame and stories of glory had reached very far places. King Manu   had built the city with utmost perfection and planning. The city was 12 yojanas  long and 3 yojanas wide.The people of the city were happy and filled with contentment. The people were very prosperous and nobody in the kingdom ever faced the problem of poverty. The Brahmins performed their duties with the utmost honour and dignity, the Kshatriyas were valiant and great warriors trained in the best of warfare arts , The Vaishyas and the Shudras were given the respect and was never insulted. They all lived in harmony in the city. The army of the kingdom was filled with horses from the Kamboj   and neighbouring kingdoms which were of the best of qualities . The fresh flowers of the himalayas and vindhyas filled the markets of Ayodhya and their scent spreading across the city making the air arromatic. The horses were so strong that each could compete with    Indra's Uchishravas horse found during the Samudra manthanam . The city had elephants for enjoyment of the people which competed with the Airvata of Indra . The way Chandra rules over the stars Chakravarti Raja Dasharatha ruled this city and kingdom following all the duties of the king. The city was a complete city filled with resources and made it meaningfull for having a name called "Ayodhya".

The Kings council

Raja Dasharatha was a able and wise ruler of the city of ayodhya and had a very wise and capable council of ministers and officers to execute the proccedings of the kingdom . The king had main eight ministers who were indulged in the welfare of the king and the kingdom and didnt hesistate to withold any suggestion from the king for the betterment of the kingdom. The ministers were very learned and qualified and proved their inteligence whenever the crisis arised. The names of the ministers were Dhristi , Jayant , Vijay , Surastra , Rastravardhan , Akopa , Dharmapala and the famous Sumantra . These were all well versed in all the administrative and acadmeical skills to be a minister and guided the king in the right way of administartion .

The kings council also had great sages and sadhakas to advice him and show the path to righteous administartion . The great sages like Vasishta, Vamadeva were his raja gurus showing the path of dharma . The king also had sages like Suyagna,Jabali,Kashayap,Gautam,Dhirgaayu,Markandeya and the sage katyana in his council to help him in running the administartion.

Raja Dasharatha being surrounded by such educated ministers and council members was ruling over the land of Ayodhya upholding Justice and Dharma .
